West Java Future Leaders is a training program for West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil’s personal aide. This program is a collaborative program between West Java Public Relations, West Java Youth and Sports Service which is fully supported by Bank Jabar Banten (BJB).

Ellian Irfan Juliano (20), Business Education 2019 student, along with 21 other selected finalists, will have the opportunity to accompany Ridwan Kamil during a year-long working visit, like a personal aide. Each finalist will be scheduled to become an aide in charge of accompanying Ridwan Kamil in activities. In order to become an aide, there are two stages of selection. In the first stage, each participant is required to submit an essay with the theme “What Are Our Dreams for West Java and Indonesia” and upload a 1 minute profile video on their respective Instagram accounts. The following are the registrant criteria:

  1. Indonesian Citizen (WNI).
  2. Age 17-25 years.
  3. Experienced in organization/volunteering.
  4. Have all the traits/attitudes of a Millennial Aide.
  5. Physically healthy and strong physically and mentally.
  6. Willing and committed to participate in the entire series of JFL 2021 events.

Participants must have a disciplined nature/attitude, friendly, tough, intelligent, alert, thorough, flexible, agile, communicative, honest, multitasking, tactical, and trustworthy. Registration starts from March 22, 2021, and is open to all youth in Indonesia. Registration can be done at bit.ly/ListJFL2021. Before registering, make sure all the criteria are met, and also that the essay and vlog requirements are complete.

In this first stage, Ellian competed with around 11,000 participants from various regions in Indonesia. In the first stage, the committee only recruited 50 selected participants to advance to the next selection. “When I announced the first stage, I was very proud to be in the top 50. I don’t want to waste it.” The student from Cirebon Regency said that in the second stage of the selection, both of them underwent a series of tests, including psychological tests, physical tests, and interviews. From the top 50, the committee announced 22 names who passed the Millennial Aide for the Governor of West Java Future Leaders Batch 3 2021 program on Friday (7/5).

Not only accompanying Ridwan Kamil, participants are also encouraged to learn about the leadership process of the number one person in West Java in terms of decision making to implementing policies. “Hopefully, we can become the future leaders of West Java,”. Before going into the field, participants first participated in a number of trainings while maintaining their health. “I also began to explore what kind of programs and policies in West Java, and what I would offer and learn from him (Ridwan Kamil),”

This JFL program can also be a trigger for young people in general and students especially in self-actualization efforts in accordance with their wishes and ideals. In addition, this activity can be a record of achievement and an additional portfolio for the participants, in this case students, and can be included in the Surat Keterangan Pendamping Ijazah (SKPI).
