Standard 7: Public Information

Information on the study programs and their qualifications is regularly updated. The information is available to relevant stakeholders, such as parents of students, prospective students, graduates, graduate users, and the public. Each study program informs its study program profile, learning outcomes, learning process, assessments, proposal seminars and thesis examinations, awards for outstanding students and lecturers, and career guidance for fresh graduates through their respective study program websites.

Information on the profile of FPEB and UPI is available respectively on the websites at http://fpeb.upi.edu/ and https://www.upi.edu/. Further information regarding new student admissions can be found at http://pmb.upi.edu/ and Instagram account at @upiofficial (https://www.instagram.com/upiofficial/). Meanwhile, information on new student admissions for the Postgraduate Program of Economics Education can be accessed through http://sps.pmb.upi.edu/. In addition, each study program and the faculty disseminate all the information through their respective internet links or social media accounts. The UPI Public Relations Team actively socializes information regarding new student admissions through various media as well as the official link at http://berita.upi.edu/.

As part of its accountability to the public, UPI also uses digital media such as UPI TV and YouTube channels to disseminate information concerning every activity held by UPI. UPI TV can be accessed through http://tv.upi.edu/, while TVUPI’s YouTube channel can be accessed through https://www.youtube.com/c/TVUPIDIGITAL/.

The study programs provide academic services by using relevant ICT facilities for the openness of information (accessibility of knowledge) such as e- learning (https://student.upi.edu/) and digital libraries (http://repository.upi.edu/) which can be reached both inside and outside the campus.

In addition to being provided by the study programs, the online learning facilities are also provided by the faculty and university through https://spot.upi.edu/ and http://spada.upi.edu/, which are accessible to the academic community. Moreover, Information needed by students, lecturers, and stakeholders can also be accessed through official internet links. Using the ICT facilities mentioned above, students and lecturers can get optimal information services, so that the interaction between students and lecturers in the learning process can run effectively.

To facilitate the accessibility of information and monitor students’ progress, UPI uses a student advising and counseling system accessible through https://siak.upi.edu/perwalian/, and an assessment system accessible through https://siak.upi.edu/sinndo/. For the thesis writing process and thesis examination assessment, student can access https://siak.upi.edu/sias/. Moreover, heads of study programs can monitor the student directory by accessing UPI’s Students Directory System (SIDIMAS-UPI) via http://sidimas.upi.edu/.

To improve the quality of graduates as expected by the stakeholders, the study program implements a tracer study. The study uses some techniques such as a survey using questionnaires, interviews, and indirect contacts (telephone, WhatsApp, and e-mail). The distribution of questionnaires and interviews is usually conducted during alumni gathering and seminar forums involving alumni, while indirect contact is conducted at certain scheduled times.

The tracer study is intended to obtain information on graduates’ waiting time for their first job, relevance of the graduates competence with their fields of work, and the types of competence needed to carry out their works. In addition, the tracer study is intended to obtain stakeholders’ feedback on the performance of the study programs alumni pertaining to integrity (ethics and morals), expertise based on science (professionalism), English language skills, competency in using ICT, ability to communicate and collaborate, and career and self-development. The results of the tracer study are used as the basis for implementing curriculum development, improving the quality of the learning process, and enhancing program activities that support the needs of graduates (including providing soft skills and technical skills).

Overall, each study program works in synergy with the faculty and the university to provide an access to open public information. All stakeholders can easily access information about UPI and all the study programs. ICT facilities utilized by UPI and the study program may facilitate the dissemination of information to the public. Data on the alumni performance have to be continually updated. Therefore, the alumni are expected to participate in providing relevant information regarding graduates to the public and giving feedback to the study programs.
