LEARNING PROCESS

The learning process in the Business Education Programme is carried out by the lecturer in charge of the course or accompanied by an assistant, and / or carried out by a team of lecturers with a maximum of two people. The maximum number of study groups for the Business Education Programme is 40 people, if the number of students contracting for a course exceeds the number above, the number of the class will be added.

Other learning principles applied by the Business Education Programme refer to the Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Number 44 of 2015 concerning National Higher Education Standards, and Regulation of the Chancellor of the University of Education of Indonesia Number 3259 / UN40 / HK / 2018 concerning Guidelines for Implementation of UPI Education in 2018, with the following characteristics:

  3. Integrative is an integrated learning process to meet the overall learning outcomes of graduates in a single program through an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach.
  4. Scientific is a learning process that prioritizes a scientific approach in order to create an academic environment based on a system of values, norms and scientific principles and upholds religious and national values.
  5. Contextual is a learning process that is adapted to the demands of the ability to solve problems in their realm of expertise.
  6. Thematic is a learning process adapted to the scientific characteristics of the programme and linked to real problems through a transdisciplinary approach.
  7. Effective is where the learning process emphasizes the internalization of the material properly and correctly in an optimum period of time.

The learning methods used by the Business Education Programme include: group discussions, simulations, case studies, collaborative learning, cooperative learning, project-based learning, problem-based learning, or other learning methods, which can effectively facilitate the fulfillment of graduate learning outcomes. The forms of learning are lectures, responses and tutorials, seminars; and laboratory practicum or field practice, as well as learning in other forms that use Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Practical lectures using laboratories / workshops / field, are carried out by lecturers and laboratory assistants under the supervision of the Head of the Business Education Programme.

At the beginning of each academic year, the Business Education Programme carries out routine general studium / general lectures for students and lecturers. Visits to companies are carried out once a semester for each batch. Apart from being a practical course, this activity is also used as a moment to get closer between lecturers and students. To add more insight for students, guest lecturers were invited for several subjects such as Marketing Management, Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

Thesis Proposal Seminar is conducted at least once a month and it must be attended by final year students who have not conducted a thesis proposal seminar. Meanwhile, the implementation of Thesis Examination is conducted at least once a month and it must be attended by students who contract research methodology courses and final year students and who have not carried out thesis exams.

Student graduation in courses is determined based on the achievement of learning outcomes in courses in accordance with the assessment criteria set out in the Lesson Plan. Determination of graduation using the Benchmark Reference Approach (PAP) rules that are adjusted to the characteristics of the course and the learning outcomes that have been determined. Re-exams are only given to students who have scored D and BL (not yet passed) the exams, after the student has taken the remedial program. The determination of graduation in the remedial / re-examination and the second course contract does not take into account the previously achieved scores and has a maximum score of C. The experience of the Education Unit Field contains activities to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes that equip students to gain practical educational experience in educational units.

Meanwhile, the quality control of the learning process is carried out in a meeting forum for lecturers of similar subjects / field of expertise group, or lecturer meetings of the Business Education Programme. Lecture monitoring is carried out by special officers at the Faculty or Programme level using standardized instrument.

ASSESSMENT

The assessment carried out by the Business Education Programme includes both the process and student learning outcomes. This system implements formative assessment, which is intended to obtain information that is used to improve the learning process (delivery program), and summative assessment, which is aimed at assessing the achievement of student learning outcomes. Operationally, the assessment consists of course assessment, semester assessment, study feasibility assessment, and final program assessment. These four assessments are an integrated unit.

Course assessment can consist of: quizzes on essential subjects, Mid-Semester Examinations, Final Semester Examinations, individual or group assignments (can take the form of preparation of theoretical study papers, research results and / or observations / research results), and group discussions / seminars. Mid-Semester Examination or Final Exam can be written or oral, and is not mandatory. It is not mandatory if students can show competency certificates relevant to the course, or based on the achievement of other aspects of assessment, such as the learning process, quizzes, work on assignments, and / or discussion / seminars on student assignments, the student concerned shows achievement. Every student is required to attend lectures, at least 80% of the 14 online meetings or lectures that are held, plus must take the Mid-Semester Examination and Final Semester Examination. Students whose online presence or activity is less than 80%, cannot take the mid-term or final term of this course.

Assessment of the success of student studies for each course is based on the Benchmark Reference Assessment (PAP). With this reference, the value of student achievement for goals / competencies is determined based on predetermined criteria. Based on the UPI Chancellor’s Regulation Number 3259 / UN40 / HK / 2018 concerning the Guidelines for the Implementation of UPI Education in 2018 related to the final value of student success in taking a course in the Business Education Programme as follows:

Assessment of the success of semester studies is carried out at the end of each semester and includes all courses taken by students in that semester. The Semester Presetation Index is calculated up to 2 decimals and it is used among them to determine the study load that can be taken in the following semester. Students who have an IPS of less than 2.50 in the first 3 semesters are required to receive special guidance from an academic supervisor who is coordinated by the head of the programme.
